You have left out JS8 Matthew. It sits now between FT8 and FT4. de tom w7sua

Re: Affecting the use of digital modes... #qrm

That is what we had in the "gentleman's agreement." And no, not exclusive. Just that when FT8 or FT4 moves it overwhelms everyone else. Already I am getting FT8 starting at 14071 and 7071 dial stomping on QSOs underway. For quite a while there has been upside down FT8 which I presumed was new users in LSB mode or those using DSB transmitters which is really not polite. Now am seeing upright FT8. ( yes, I run WSJT-X in parallel to fldigi so I can note call signs of LIDS. )

I do not remember the WSJT-X team asking on any of the non WSJT-X forums Andy. Like the Olivia and Contestia groups or the JS8 groups.

Yes, we can operate where ever but 1) most of the modes have common calling frequencies or watering holes, and 2) one is not likely to get an answer to a CQ away from where others expect to find the mode.

That will not work Matthew.

JS8 is active and occupies the space between FT8 and FT4.

Yes, this digital ID is used to identify _terminal_ , not operator.

To identify yourself, use your callsign in transmitted text.

Just like in AMTOR-ARQ only 4 letter is used during connection, not full callsign.

Receiving station saves and shows all mesage, but it can send ACK-packet for message for its ID.

Android version also shows notification if message for your ID is received.

Good way is to include your callsign in specially formatted tag in beginning of beacon message, i.e.
#;K7TMG-12;Hello

In this case any AprsGate which received your beacon will shows you as K7TMG-12 in APRS net.

The problem is that "once it's exclusive, it's always perceived as that way".  Example: FM Repeater spectrum.  How cool would it be to re-farm 147.000-148.000 MHz (in North America) for mid-speed mesh networking and build some real backhaul capability into amateur radio!

Heck...since all of the repeaters use PL and are so rarely used anyway...we probably could and nobody would notice.  Never mind...I gotta go call my contacts at Ubiquiti.  Be right back. Lol.

Hello all,

on HF bands.

When we did it we found, that it is looks very like as APRS ,
so we wrote HF Pager -> APRS gate also.

Re: New frequencies for FT8

Does not help that Flex seems to advertise using their amp with FT8.

I try to do at least 3 evenings a week on PSK31 and 63 along with MFSK on or about 14.071 This will effect that whole area..

FYI, in case you have not heard (or experienced).  With the new release of WSJTX NEW frequencies are provided as suggested operating areas for FT8.  Several taking them closer to tradition PSK31, Olivia, Thor suggested frequencies.  I don't have big problems with it, but some are already sqawking

Re: New frequencies for FT8

I regularly have QSOs in the "Olivia" area and have FT8 dropping on top of me. Many times I can only decode when I switch to LSB! So yes, I am not happy with that situation.

Rick,

Yes I can imagine that’s really going to impact anyone who wants to operate digital modes like PSK31 and MFSK. It’s a pity because I’ve been seeing more and more PSK31 activity recently.
