Re: [Hellschreiber] Throb USB/LSB

Paulus <paulstra@...>

Hello all,
an short note about the sideband using Throb.
Throb is Sideband-dependant.

At this moment there is no Reverse switch is in the program.

An lot of transceivers allow using narrow xtalfilters in the LSB mode.
So I suggest for the moment that we use LSB, and when needed we can perhaps
agree that when somone calls in twice in Throb (with CWID) and we cannot
copy him, he signals us to Reverse Sideband.

Will be qrv again on 10.137 carrier using LSB from 1800 UTC and up this
evening.

Hi All,

I managed to hook up with Werner HB9BGY today on 21 and Paul PA0OCD on 18.
There were other stations, and apologies if there was a mix up with
USB/LSB
which caused us to miss each other.

The tests were vital for me. The principle of detecting the presence and
position of tones using the FFT clearly works and can be the basis of a
communication method.

Regarding the current Throb program:

Tuning is tight but the limited AFC does work and enabled me to cope with
the drift that my old IC735 suffers when I go from Tx to Rx and the
reverse.

The method is very sensitive and I was maintaining copy down into the
depths
of QSB.

The method is still very slow and requires patience but even as it stands
will have potential for skeds on very difficult paths.

I will now add USB/LSB switching and try to speed it up.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Lionel and Throbbers.

Received today:

Possibly, KF4HEY with 557 on 21.062.5, guess it was
random characters playing tricks on me.

G3PPT with 579 on 21.062.1 with HB9BGY No Copy.
PA0OCD with 549 on 18.104.2 with G3PPT with 599.

Throb seems very qrm resistant, and the AGC worked fine
just like the point and click tuning.
Great i just found out i can scroll the received text up and down :-)

Finally, the xyl came up to ask if there was something broken
as she did not recognize the sound of Throb.

Well done Lionel..
BTW, I have tried to promote Binster in the LF Area
but got noone interested.

IN THE SECOND WINDOW, WHICH SHOWS THE SINGLE RED LINE, WHAT IS THAT. OR
SHOULD THERE BE TWO LINES? CANT FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO WITH IT.

SO FAR PROGRAM SEEMS VERY SENSETIVE TO QRN/OR RAPID SHIFT IN AGC.

WHICH WINDOW SHOULD THE SIG BE DECODED IN, OR IS IT SIMILAR TO SLOWFELD?

JUST TRYING TO GET STARTED!

SECOND QUESTION, WHEN YOU POINT AND CLICK TO CENTER THE SIG, DOES THE TX
FREQ CHANGE LIKE THE NET SETTING IN PSK?

Re: Fw: Throb Skeds this Saturday

Paulus <paulstra@...>

Hello David

When tuned in ok and putting AFC on, next thing to do is to Fase the signal
with the red line.
From what I experienced, it works ok if you put the red line on the most
left valley between the two "hills".

Sometimes you have, after an changeover, to adjust this again.

I noticed also, that best is to watch regulary the received audiofrequency
and adjust it with the mouse, due to slight drift between the stations,
which the AFC follows mostly very fine.

Lionel G3ppt will put in soon the Revserse button, to reverse LSB to USB,
because Throb is Sideband dependant.

THROB QSO

Jim Sheldon <w0eb@...>

First Throb QSO with KF4HEY on 10.137 MHz (Carrier) at 18:25Z.
Could hardly hear his signal - perfect copy - Went to sleep waiting for
typed text to finish sending it's so slow, but not as slow as "SlowFeld" hi.
Great weak signal mode and I'm sure it will evolve into something even
better than it is now.

Ftv

Andrew Nicholson <andrew@...>

Hello.
Anyone run FTV software?, just downloaded ( thanks andy last I looked no
Sitor capability). Problem is will not grab a signal from soundcard, all
looks ok and connections as should be, scope just lays dormant.
Any ideas, Have mailed originator but no reply Yet.
Thought one of you lovely people may have had similar problem.
How did you good people in the radiodatadecoding group do in Throb?. I have
to admit to being a bit slow of the mark, but I am sure it will catch on.
Ale ( just a pint). We have conflicting Wav files, one from me and one from
andrew, I am siting here with headphones on listening to my version. Problem
is when I run ale I get a line to wavein failed. So program dosn't decode,
either that or I am listening to the washing machine next door, The walls
are very thin hi hi hi.
Good night I am going up the apples and pears, or if you prefer up the
wooden hill to Bedfordshire (old song you know).
Regards and 73
