New SW Radiogram program is available

 

Hello to all the digital folks out there.
 
A new program for the Shortwave Radiogram broadcasts has now been posted on the SW Radiogram website.  
 
If you're new to decoding digital, this is a pretty nice way to get your feet wet. You can use your desktop or laptop, or you can use an Android device such as a smartphone or tablet. You can find links to the SW Radiogram website, software for decoding, and wiki articles with extensive details and help at: http://www.udxf.nl/events.html.  
 
If you'd like to see a list of web receivers (which are often reported as being used), receiver, transceiver and SDR applications and more, take a look at the SW Radiogram gateway at https://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Shortwave_Radiogram_Gateway

I always thought that the ARDOP modem was included in the WinLink distribution.

There should be several files that start with "ARDOP_Win" in your top "RMS Express" directory.

When you start an ARDOP session, the ARDOP TNC opens a window in the task bar, similar to VARA HF. You'll need to open that window to configure the ARDOP TNC (specifically to select the right sound devices). Thanks to you, I logged my first ARDOP session successfully this morning!

I want to use ARDOP with Winlink on a different computer.  I can't find a site  to download it from , any ideas ?  I looked in the Files section of ARDOP groupIO, no luck..  Nothing on Winlink site either.

I remember using a "Dumb Terminal" with a real Serial Port hooked to a KPC-3 and or a KAM Termianal Node Controler ( TNC ) .... that I still have both and even an old BAYPAC TNC RS-232 serial port controller for Packet and after a bit used for early APRS =)  The days of RF BBS and node hopping =)   So to make a point the controler has a machine language ( OS ) writen onto a RAM chip inside the TNC to access with the "Dumb Terminal" with out any OS inside the monitor / keyboard box (s) =)

Yes Lee, I hope the RS ID helps to work in exotic (or less exotic) modes.

 

I saw that I did not define what was the “function”. It is the "Ham calls with Multipsk" one.

If they are MSDOS applications you can try DosBox:

Otherwise, as mentioned, install Virtual Box:
https://www.virtualbox.org/

And then install a version of XP under Virtual Box. You'll probably need the Virtual Box "Guest Additions" too - it not as complicated as it sounds :)

Finally you could dual boot your PC into W10 and/or XP but for occasional use I'd suggest the Virtual Box route.

Multipsk associated to Clock are freeware programs but with functions submitted to a licence (by user key).

 

The improvements of MULTIPSK 4.45.6 are the following:

 

·                     Replacement of the EM (Extended Message) sub-mode by the new EM mode

The EM mode is more reliable and a bit more sensitive than the former EM sub-mode (deleted in this new Multipsk version and not compatible with the new EM mode).

 

Its main use is to give the possibility to have simultaneous QSO (at standard speed similar to the PSK31 one) between different Hams, as messages are displayed on the waterfall and on the reception windows.

So everyone can see these messages and possibly answer. The number of QSO is limited only by the bandwidth.

 

A channel of about 400 Hz on the waterfall seems reasonable to display the message. So 6 QSO in a standard phone bandwidth (2500 Hz) will be nice, each QSO being visible by everybody.
Now, the maximum theoretical number of QSO would be around 2500/172=14 (172 Hz being the transmission bandwidth).

 

The sensitivity (minimum Signal to Noise ratio) is equal to -15,5 dB (with the first decodings at -18 dB), which is better that BPSK31 and Olivia and comparable to MFSK8.

 

With the EM, it is possible to send messages by blocks of 47 characters maximum each. A big message will be automatically split in blocks of 47 characters, sent one after the other.

 

The proposed main frequency for EM is 7055 KHz (USB), and the other proposed frequencies are: 3576, 10142, 14078, 21085, 28100 (USB), 144620 KHz (FM).
To concentrate EM calls, make them, preferably, for the 5 five minutes of the hour (for example from 20:00 to 20:05).

·         Function "Ham calls with Multipsk"
This function gives the possibility to send your CQs to the "Ham calls with Multipsk" website ("http://multipsk.fr/A_MO.php"), where other users will see your CQs and possibly your position (localizable on a map), this to facilitate a possible answer from another Ham.
This possibility concerns almost all the TX modes of Multipsk, and especially exotic modes (ALE400 /FAE, AUTEX, EM...)
To start this function, click on the "Ham calls" option of the menu located on the top line of the Multipsk RX/TX window.

·         Addition of the "PKT" (or "DATA-L"), "PKT-R" (or "DATA-R") modulations in the "QRGs" (i.e. "Frequencies") window. This modification is associated with the "FREQUENCIES.TXT" file, where modes with their frequencies and modulations are specified.

·         Thanks to Ralf (DO5RBB), the new http://multipsk.fr/ server is available.
So the former "rg16.free.fr" and "multipsk.r-bender.de" servers are replaced by this new server. This replacement is automatically done in Multipsk.

Hello Sergei, the link for the demo android version is not currently working (the link at DX soft seems broken), is there an alternate link? I think Hfpager will be fantastic paired with my Phaser Digital transceiver kit and would like to try it out.
