VARA -SAT- Dynamic net facility
This puts portable operation , from low power non gps locked systems on the table Latest version , contains an interrogator , which, produces a response from the wanted station , indicating the level of frequency 'off net' [ similar to IFF or Secondary radar ] This allows a connecting station to 'find' the wanted gateway , and to then commence transmission [ solving the age old problem with duplex sat work of netting ] The vara-sat version , now has undergone considerable testing and modification over the geo-sat link, and now provides extended latency , with enhanced AFC PA1SDB , Conducted low power test and reports data transfer with 70 mW to 120 cm dish , the Modem reached level 3 , the maximum un-registered speed 173 baud , problems experienced , where trying to reduce the power, to a lower level ! , Follow the progress , being reported on the Amsat-DL web-site https://forum.amsat-dl.org/index.php?thread/2829-is0grb-winlink-server-on-qo-100-dial-10489635-0-usb/&pageNo=3 Roberto IS0GRB Testing the system with his RMS gateway , posts :- This evening Jose EA5HVK has released the version 3.0.5 of the VARA SAT modem.
https://rosmodem.wordpress.com/2011/01/10/ros-2
This version, at our request, integrates the Calibration function, very useful via satellite and for those without GPS.
It is therefore possible to know your own AFC value detected by the correspondent and center the VFO, so as to reset the AFC to 0 (zero) without the aid of a WebSDR and therefore of internet connection. Roberto IS0GRB

Re: where can I find remote controlled relay board ?

Joe
I purchased a Denkovi SNMP12 a few years ago that will probably do what you want.?? It has 12 SPDT relays (up to 15A), 8 ADC inputs (0-10V) and 8 digital inputs (0-12V).
<https://denkovi.com/ethernet-io-relay-module-snmp-web-12-relays> Unfortunately, they are now "Out of stock".?? You might find something else on their website that will do the same thing. I never used it for my ham radio remote base project.?? I don't remember why, but I used a different device to do what I wanted to do.?? The SNMP-12 did work fine, but all I was interested in at the time was a way to control AC outlets.?? I ended up using a Synaccess NetBooter NP-08 for the application. My board is about 4-5 years old and was never put into use.?? If it is something you are interested in I'd sell it. Joe, K1ike

Yes its bit clunky , but , the intent was/is to provide , fast one-2-one comms , with file transfer , good reports are being received from the E-Com users , a new version overcomes a unexpected limitation to file transfer max size , that might of been with the high speed VHF modems , Due to the rather poor conditions, testing over the 1000 mile HF UK<>EA path was a little sprodic, only reached level 3 or 4 , however its up and running , the monitor function in VAR should enable some sort of round table aspect , 73-G

where can I find remote controlled relay board ?
#digital
ve3pie@...
does anyone recall the company selling a board with on-off relays (about 10 I think)
that also had a readout for voltage. it could be remotely controlled via internet, and also you could define macros where you could control multiple relays at once, with one click. I can't remember the company that sold this, or if there is something like on the market. any suggestion are appreciated. thanks, Fred VE3PIE / VE3WN

Thanks Graham, I have downloaded and it installed without issues. Seems my registration from previous versions has been accepted. I'm not actually sure how to use since almost all my previous use was with RMS Express. I am not sure if there is again a stand alone use, will poke around some more. Andy K3UK

Andy,
I think you may find , the new 'Chat' application , quite novel, in that it gives access to the modem at all speeds , but , I for one cannot type that fast ! , running the 'chat app , calls the vara modem , Chat provides the Rig control , via CAT or Com-ptt and the modem , the audio interface and tune button , now a single 1500 Hz test tone .The new modem has improved low signal performance , this with the arq function , makes for low power error free qso's , at power levels much reduced from the days of amtor Though not intended , the unlicensed [free for all] modem runs to 175 baud level 3 , min being 40 baud , ample for qso , but notably , for the qrp users , the modem remains MFSK as is the ACK frame , being phase continuous , allows it to be passed via non linear systems , ie , class E/D power stages , which will be of interest to the low power / battery emergency situations , Entering a valid key , enables the faster levels, which are ofdm and require linear handling. Might be of wider interest to list possible watering holes for 'vara chat' ? first over the pond might be a start ! 73-Graham g0nbd

New VARA HF v3.0.2
#VARA
Posted to the VARA group this morning , announcement , new VARA V3-0-2 has been released ,
in addition , two other applications are released :- VARA Terminal : , allowing connection to BPQ servers , deploying VARA modem CHAT application , which allows the modem to be uses as 'QSO mode , with full arq, [ similar to AMTOR ] for live keyboard text and file transfer [NB unlicensed modem runs to 175 Baud] Download links , as of today 21/7
Copy follows ________________________________________________________________________________ Good morning, As some of you know, i have been working in a new VARA HF since months ago. The objective was improve all the lines of the code and, specially, increase the sensitivity with low S/N, getting good performance with bad and good conditions.
The result is the new VARA HF v3.0.2 and can be downloaded in the official VARA site without extra cost for VARA licenses: https://rosmodem.wordpress.
Sysops have been notified by the WDT and will try replace VARA v2.2.1 by the v3.0.2 on July 27th (or even before) .
The default retries in this new VARA is 10 (instead of 5) as now the connection protocol is faster. Set the number of retries that best fits with your usual Gateways. The time between retries is 3.2 seconds, so 10 retries are 32 seconds cycle. And DWELL time (for Gateway sysops) is 4 seconds.
special thanks to Martin HB9AUR for the countless hour spent testing VARA prototypes

I'm downsizing the shack so there's no need for the extra hardware. I have a 35A supply as well as a smaller one so there's more than enough juice to power the rigs. Hope all is well. Tony -K2MO

New release of MULTIPSK (4.39.1) - New package due to missing files

Hello to all,
As I realized that it was missing files (about SDRplay), I have just updated the Multipsk V.4.39.1 package. Sorry.

New release of MULTIPSK (4.39.1)
#Multipsk
Patrick Lindecker
New release of MULTIPSK (4.39.1)
Pour les francophones: la version en français de ce message se trouve sur mon site (http://f6cte.free.fr). Il suffit de cliquer sur le lien "Principales modifications (courriel avertissant de la sortie de la nouvelle version)".
* The new release of MultiPSK (4.39.1) is on my Web site (http://f6cte.free.fr/index_anglais.htm). * The MD5 signature of the downloaded MULTIPSK_setup.exe file to, possibly, check (with WinMD5 for example), that the downloading works without error, is equal to: 7cd16b8616ec0883bdd11962a37edcbd * Multipsk associated to Clock are freeware programs but with functions submitted to a licence (by user key).
The main improvements of MULTIPSK 4.39.1 are the following:
Addition of TCP/IP interfaces: "SRDplay" and "rtl_tcp.exe"
Pushing on the "SDRplay" or "rtl_tcp.exe" button of the "Configuration" screen permits to interface: · either a SDRplay receiver, thanks to the TCP/IP server "rsp_tcp.exe", · either a TNT receiver or compatible, thanks to the TCP/IP server "rtl_tcp.exe". The frequency and the gain are adjustable through this interface. The I/Q signal is taken from the receiver (TNT or SDRplay) through the TCP/IP server, at a sampling frequency 250 KHz, in the local loop adress: 127.0.0.1, port 1234. The TCP/IP adress and the port are configurable.
Improvement of the EGC decoding The EGC (Enhanced Group Calls) service of Inmarsat C satellites uses the PSK modulation at 1200 bauds to send broadcast messages either to all ships or to ships located on a given area, from a NCSC (Network Control Station Channel). The geostationary Inmarsat satellites 4-F3, 3-F5, 4-F1 and 4A-F4 use frequencies around 1540 MHz for these transmissions Necessary hardware: for these UHF frequencies, a stable receiver and without not too much shift is advised (RTL/SDR key as "RTL-SDR.COM V3", for example). A LNA ("Low Noise Amplifier") is necessary. It must be placed at the antenna output. A LNA specific to band L is advised. The antenna can be a Patch one or a helical one (right-hand circular polarization).
Note about translation of Multipsk.exe and Clock .exe: the 4.39 version of Multipsk has been translated to Spanish by Joachin (EA4ZB), from French. See: http://f6cte.free.fr/Translation_files.htm.

Re: IS this Pactor 3 I have decoded ?
#Pactor
Jeremy Allen
I know I'm late, but that's P3, specifically Speed level 1 and a few SL2's in there. You can see it's SL1 with the 2 tones.
As far as compression, the modems have built in PMC or Huffman compression that can be applied to the data stream in K-K or BBS QSO's. In Winlink these are suppressed and the software uses B2F compression and the modem just transmits the 8-bit data without additional compression. Most K-K is on 40 or 20M, but I guess some folks are on 80M as well. -- 73 DE N1ZZZ
