Opera web linked beacon , I spotted the other night ...
ALL de EA5DOM (Spain): Beacon Op05 every 06:12 in Benidorm 10w + 10GHz bounce test to EB3FRN via Algerie
Luis EA5DOM and the gang, set up for a Microwave 'Dx' reflection link over the North Mediterranean , where as 2 meters , was previously used , this time the experiment was repeated at 10 GHz , the path length , equating to 500 miles , in a 200 / 300 leg split...Not only a one way contact [ full op05 decode] , but during the test , a selection of decodes each way ..
[ PSK map shows contacts as 1296 MHz ]
Waiting for the next ...
Luis posting to the yahoo opera group :-
Yes ! The bounce in the Algerian coast works nicely when sea tropo conditions are good enought
Nothing new. Well known among old V/UHF operators. When there is no way to try a direct contact
because of coastal obstructions and mountains it is worth to try via 7X reflection. The Algerian coast
has high clifts in certain areas like around Oran, which provide very strong bounces
This days we have EA3HMJ portable EA7 in Almería in 10GHz and the only way to contact him was via
the 7X reflection (even in FM with nice signals). The beaming is critical. Both stations must find a point
were mutual copy is posible
For the link with EB3FRN I'm beaming to my south 180º and Iban QTH is 195º
This week tropo is peaking again untill end of weekend, probably. We will keep trying to detect a good
aperture for an SSB QSO (if at home !)
